The light blue "Chinese Language Learning Robot" has a small but complete body, with a height of 237mm, a length of 185mm and a width of 144mm at its thickest point. It will soon enter many Chinese schools in the Philippines to help the development of overseas Chinese language education with the power of technology.

As one of the main persons in charge of the robot's R&D team, Wang Huazhen, a professor at the School of Computer Science and Technology of Huaqiao University, said the first batch of the robot successfully went overseas last week and passed the operational test of the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center.

In October 2022, Huaqiao University was commissioned by the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Fujian Province to develop the robot for overseas Chinese schools to alleviate the shortage of Chinese language teachers. In the meantime, the university organized the Innovation Center for Industry-Education Integration and the Smart Language Research Team to design the robot producing as a platform for Chinese language learning and cultural dissemination.

As China's first intelligent educational robot tailored for Chinese language education, the robot contains the contents of Filipino Chinese language textbooks, with modules of language learning application and human-machine interaction.

Huang Duanming, president of the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center, said the robot was not only an artificial intelligence project, but also contained the achievements of more than 30 years of reform in Chinese language education in the Philippines, as well as the care and love of China for its overseas children.

The Philippine Chinese Education Research Center and Fujian Overseas Chinese Affairs Office have maintained a long-term partnership, jointly organizing online activities such as the Online Training Course for Chinese Language Teachers, the Online Chinese Talent Workshop for Chinese Language Teachers and the Online Workshop for Chinese School Administrators to promote the development of Chinese language education in the Philippines during the COVID-19 epidemic.

At the third Friendship Renewing in Cloud Meeting Room overseas Chinese education video symposium held in southeast China's Fuzhou city on December 19, 2022, the Overseas Chinese Affairs Office of Fujian Province presented 400 sets of "Chinese Language Learning Robot" to Chinese schools in the Philippines. President Wang Huazhen expressed that the Philippine Chinese Education Research Center will also organize a briefing session on the use of the robot in Chinese schools in the Philippines, so that it can better tell the story of China and to promote people-to-people contact between the two countries.
